We were lucky enough to enjoy brilliant weather as we set off from Lands End. Taking the obligatory photos in front of the Lands End signpost first of course.
We set off first along the A30 until we turned off onto the B3306 which gives you wonderful sea views on a relatively quite road and takes you all the way to st Ives.
Sticking close to the coast we had lunch at the 40 mile point which was roughly half way. This is when the undulating and often steep Cornish terain started to take its toll, on me at least. With the extra weight of kit on the bike the sharp gradients became killer hills. In truth i probably hadn't eaten enough so was starting to crash out by the 60 mile mark. Often on these long rides kepping fulled is half the battel.
I crawled to our rest stop at 75 miles and made my best effort to recuperate and refule. The last leg of the journy to to Tintagel went much better despite a 5mile slow clime.
We got to Tintagle after 89miles and 2244m of assent. I tough day but made worthwhile by the good cause we're raising money for and by the fantastic sunset at Tintagel YHA.
A longer day tomorrow but less steep hills (touch wood!)
